Fireworks are still going off ten minutes into the New Year. Lavender twists and winds through the crowd with no real destination, finding herself pulled into over-friendly embraces, before a stronger arm wraps around her waist.

“Don’t I get a ‘Happy New Year’?” Dean jokes, pulling a streamer from her shoulder.

Lavender pouts playfully. “I was just getting to you.” She reaches to ruffle his hair, dislodging the glitter that has settled there. It falls around his shoulders, sparkling as she giggles.

“Happy New Year,” she tells him, planting a kiss on his lips. “Let’s make it a good one.”
